Are you here tonight?
Are you looking up at the same sky as I am?
Are you praying to the same God as I AM?
Are you alone,
            Wondering if God has already chosen
            One for you?
 
Are you a nerd like me?
Which team are you on: Star Trek or Star Wars?
Is your comic book collection bigger than mine?
Who’s your favorite character in Mario Kart?
 
Are you BOLD or subdued?
            Impulsive or cautious?
Are you the host of the party or
            A quiet guest?
Two cents will get you farther
            With me
Than just a penny for my thoughts
            (I’d rather listen to you anyway)
 
Are you tired of dating app questionnaires?
Are you tired of writing a one paragraph bio?
Are you tired of selecting your best five selfies?
Are you tired of swiping left or right?
            (mostly left)
 
Do you stand on the right? (I hope)
Are you saved? (I hope)
Without that, no hope
            For us, yoked equally
            From the start or not at all
The two become one
            Under God, indivisible
            Liberty and justice for all
Love and unity for both
 
Are you a neat freak?
A playful slob?
Do you plan with lists?
            A time for everything and
            Everything in its place
Chaos is okay, but only for awhile
Order and schedules accomplish
            A lot more creativity
            In the long run

What is your ethnicity?
Are you taller than me?
            Shorter?
Blue, green, brown, hazel
            Your eyes are probably your
            Best feature
Mine are blue and my
            Best feature
(The mothers and grandmothers tell me)

Never mind,

Do you have to constantly
            Remind yourself of Isaiah 40:31?
Patience and waiting and
            Faith is not easy
Are you asking Him for more?
 
Maybe tomorrow, when least
            Expected (things hoped for)
When we’re not
            Prepared (things unseen)
The Lord works in strange ways
As He directs our paths
 
I can’t wait to say “Hello”
Are you wondering what our first
            Date will look like?
Or how many bad ones until
            Our first?
Are you fancy like Applebee’s?
Picnic in the park
            Too cliché?
I’ve never bought flowers
            Or chocolates
On a sundae; Mondays are
            My favorite day of the week
I’ve never ridden a bicycle built
            For two
 
Are you already a mother
            Or do you yearn to be one?
I’m fine with either, as long as
            I can call myself husband and father
“He shall give thee the desires of thine heart”
God giveth families to the solitary and
            Many arrows to the righteous
We can be strong together
            Sheltered under His wing with
            Our brood
 
But for now, until then,
            I serve Him with gladness
I praise Him in my solitary,
            And I rejoice in the quiet
            As I wait upon Him
For happy chaos will be soon enough
 
I know I'm ready.
